I obtained my Wine and Spirits Education Trust Level 3 (WSET 3) Award in April of 2018 and I can say that it is not an easy course. If you have already done level 2, you should know that level 3 has a much higher degree of difficulty. However, the course was an amazing experience. We have tasted more than 80 wine labels. Tasting them in the company of an experienced group of students is a unique opportunity. The guided tasting with high-level teachers, the contextualized classes and didactic material allow the student to build a solid foundation in a short period of time. After this course, you are going to be able to describe the characteristics of the world’s main wines and to provide information on the key factors that influence style, quality and price of these wines
About the WSET 3 exam
In order to obtain the WSET Award, there is a tasting exam of a red wine and a white wine for the student to point out the main characteristics regarding aromas, body, acidity, tannins, level of sweetness and to evaluate its quality. After this tasting test, there are multiple choice questions and then essay questions. There are a considerable number of essay questions that require long responses in a short period of time. the student must dominate and interrelate themes such as climates, geography, viticulture techniques, legislations of countries and their designations of origin, characteristics of the grapes, among others.
